EXHIBITION NEWS: "Two Modernists Revisted", at the Kouros Gallery, at 23 East 73rd Street, NY, NY, 10021 - until 26 February 2011
Guy Danella, like many Americans, experimented with abstraction before realizing his true potential as a figurative painter. But even these early works, though non-figurative, often seem to suggest psycholocal traits, prankish, secretive, meditative, or even diaboloical. Danella's figurative paintings have an unusually rich combination of sensuous color and paint quality together with elusive and haunting narrative programs. This is a kind of art rather rare in the United States.
